Govt work, classes suspended in NCR, Calabarzon due to Tropical Storm Enteng

Malacañang suspended government work and classes in all levels in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Calabarzon on Tuesday, September 3, due to Tropical Storm Enteng and the Southwest Monsoon.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin confirmed the suspension through Memorandum Circular No. 63.

Tropical Storm Enteng made landfall in Casiguran, Aurora at 2 p.m. and was later spotted near Maddela town in Quirino province.

The storm is expected to continue moving north northwestward or northward over Cagayan Valley or northern Cordillera Administrative Region before turning west northwestward over the Babuyan Channel.

Further intensification of Enteng is likely from Tuesday late evening onwards.

The enhanced southwest monsoon will bring moderate to intense rainfall in other areas of Luzon and Visayas over the next three days.

Cities in NCR have also suspended classes for private schools, and several provinces and municipalities in CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Cagayan Valley Region have announced class suspensions.

Private companies and offices were left to their discretion to cancel work, with private schools initially included in the suspension, but cities in NCR later suspended private school classes.

Agencies involved in basic and health services, disaster response, and other vital services are to continue operations.
