3 nabbed for selling overpriced alcohol in Dagupan
Three individuals, Robert Alcantara, Paul Kenneth Crisostomo, and Chuck Reyes, were arrested in Dagupan City on March 25 for selling ethyl alcohol at inflated prices.
Authorities confiscated 92 gallons of ethyl alcohol being sold for PHP680 each, significantly higher than the DTI's SRP of PHP580 per gallon.
The suspects, who are from Caloocan City, allegedly posed as medical supply couriers to bypass checkpoints while transporting the alcohol.
The operation was a joint effort between the NBI Dagupan District Office (NBI-DADO) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
NBI-DADO is filing a petition to distribute the confiscated alcohol to hospitals and front-liners.
The suspects are facing charges for violating the Price Act and the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009.
This incident is the second operation conducted by NBI-DADO in the province related to overpriced alcohol, with a prior arrest of six individuals on March 23.
