3 arrested in Caloocan, Manila for selling overpriced ethyl alcohol

Three individuals were arrested in Caloocan and Manila for hoarding and selling ethyl alcohol at prices higher than the suggested retail price.

In Caloocan, Jeffrey Zapanta and Albert Mandap were apprehended for selling 500ml ethyl alcohol online for P140, exceeding the DTI's price ceiling of P61 to P74.25.

Authorities seized 83 bottles of 500ml ethyl alcohol and 48 one-liter bottles from Zapanta and Mandap, with an estimated market value of P23,620.

Evangeline Salazar Endozo, a saleslady at JKOS Medical Supplies and Equipment, Inc., was arrested in Manila for selling overpriced isopropyl alcohol.

Separately, three men were arrested in San Rafael, Bulacan for hoarding and selling isopropyl alcohol at P220 per liter, beyond the DTI's SRP of P125 to P130.

The arrested individuals will face charges for violating laws related to profiteering, overpricing, and hoarding, including violations of RA 7581 (Price Act) and RA 7394 (Consumer Act).
