DILG orders Napolcom to remove Mayor Guo's police powers

Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos has ordered the National Police Commission (Napolcom) to begin proceedings to strip Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo of her police powers due to alleged links to illegal POGO operations.

Napolcom will hear the side of Mayor Guo, the Tarlac governor, and the province's 1st district representative on Thursday before deciding whether to revoke her deputization power.

Mayor Guo's alleged connection to POGO operations surfaced when an electric bill and a car registered in her name were reportedly found during a police raid on a POGO establishment in Bamban.

If sufficient grounds are found, Mayor Guo's deputization and privileges to oversee the local police force will be revoked.

Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo stated that revoking Guo's deputization power will not affect the authority and functions of the town's local police.
