OSG forms team to probe Mayor Alice Guo's nationality

The Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) has formed a team to investigate Mayor Alice Guo of Bamban town in Tarlac and scrutinize her nationality to determine her legal right to hold public office.

Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra stated that the team was created last week and is coordinating with various government agencies, including the Commission on Elections (Comelec), the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the Department of Education (DepEd), and the Bureau of Immigration, to gather pertinent facts.

If Guo is found to be unlawfully holding office, the OSG will commence quo warranto proceedings to remove her.

A quo warranto proceeding is a legal action used to question an individual's authority to hold a public office.

Guo has also faced questioning from the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equity regarding her nationality and involvement with a POGO facility raided last March.
