The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) composite team has apprehended more public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers through random inspections aimed at ensuring compliance with transportation regulations.
During an inspection at NAIA Terminal 3, 41 taxis, motorcycle taxis, and other vehicles were checked by the composite team.
Two PUVs were found to have expired registrations and were subsequently impounded.
The composite team includes members from the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), its Airport Police Department (APD), the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Aviation Security Group.
Additional LTO personnel have been deployed to conduct real-time checks against drivers who overcharge passengers.
LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II stated that the goal is to make NAIA and its vicinity a 'discipline zone' for PUV drivers.
