MIAA flags rogue taxi drivers at NAIA
At least seven taxi drivers operating at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) were apprehended for multiple violations on Wednesday.
The intensified 24/7 operations against erring taxi drivers have been ongoing since Sunday, conducted by a composite team from MIAA, APD, LTO, LTFRB, and PNP Aviation Security Group.
Violations included tampered meters, illegal solicitation and contracting of passengers, expired franchises, and drivers operating without valid licenses.
Patrols are being conducted beyond terminal premises, including areas near the Savoy Hotel, to address solicitation occurring outside the airport.
Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Eric Ines emphasized the seriousness of the enforcement, stating, "We mean business."
Currently, 45 APD personnel are assigned to patrol the vicinity, with plans to deploy additional officers to strengthen enforcement.
