Muntinlupa intensifies firecracker, muffler ban

Muntinlupa City authorities are intensifying their campaign against the sale and use of firecrackers and vehicles with modified mufflers.

From Dec. 23 to 25, the police seized 100 "boga" worth P5,000 in Barangays Tunasan, Putatan, Alabang, Sucat, and Poblacion.

They also confiscated 400 pieces of Piccolo and 100 pieces of Five Star firecrackers, amounting to P5,000, in Barangays Putatan and Poblacion.

Additionally, 43 modified mufflers were seized.

Muntinlupa City Ordinance No. 14-092 prohibits the manufacture, sale, and use of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices within the city.

Violators of the firecracker ban face fines ranging from P1,000 to P5,000.

Muntinlupa Police chief Col. Robert Domingo also held a dialogue with motorcycle riders and force multipliers on Dec. 26 regarding the strict implementation of the ordinances.
