Road closures set in Manila for Independence Day rites

Manila will implement temporary road closures on Wednesday, June 12, to accommodate activities for the 126th Philippine Independence Day celebration at Rizal Park.

Government and non-government organizations will hold events at Rizal Park Burnham Green, adjacent to the Quirino Grandstand, starting June 10.

From 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., Roxas Boulevard (both bounds from T.M. Kalaw to P. Burgos) and T.M. Kalaw (from Ma. Orosa to Roxas Blvd. westbound) will be closed.

From 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., larger portions of Roxas Boulevard (from UN Avenue to P. Burgos Ave.), T.M. Kalaw (both sides from Roxas Blvd. to Taft Ave.), P. Burgos Avenue, and Bonifacio Drive will be closed.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) advised truckers, drivers, and motorists to take identified alternate routes during the closure.

A total of 1,156 enforcers will be deployed by the MMDA to manage traffic, with ambulances and other emergency vehicles also dispatched.

The Land Transportation Office will also set up booths at Rizal Park on June 10 and 11 for various services, including free medical examinations for the first 100 applicants.
