Maynilad, Manila Water face supply interruptions due to typhoon

Maynilad Water Services Inc. is experiencing service interruptions in parts of Metro Manila and Cavite due to high turbidity levels at Ipo Dam caused by Typhoon Ulysses.

The interruptions affect approximately 70 percent of Maynilad's customers, totaling around 1 million service connections.

Maynilad is increasing its water production as turbidity levels gradually improve, which should lead to shorter interruption schedules.

Affected areas for Maynilad include parts of Quezon City, Navotas, Valenzuela, Parañaque, Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Manila, Pasay, as well as Imus, Rosario, Bacoor and Cavite City.

Manila Water Company is also advising customers to expect subnormal water flow, especially in Antipolo City, San Mateo, Rodriguez and other areas in Rizal, as well as Pasig City and Marikina City.

Manila Water cited heavy rain, floods, and power outages rendering their pumps inoperable and depriving refills for reservoirs as reasons for the interruptions.

The water level at Angat Dam in Bulacan has breached its normal high level, reaching 214.5 meters above sea level as of Friday morning.
