Marikina opens 3 new quarantine facilities for COVID-19 patients

Marikina City has opened three new emergency quarantine facilities near the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center (ARMMC) to increase its capacity for COVID-19 patients.

The air-conditioned facilities, funded by the local government, can accommodate approximately 100 patients with symptoms or those who are asymptomatic carriers of the virus.

Mayor Marcy Teodoro stated that the expansion is crucial to ensure that patients needing medical attention are not turned away, especially with the ongoing mass testing in the city.

The initiative is a collaboration between the Marikina City government, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and WTA Architecture and Design Studio.

Plans are underway to construct an additional 100-bed capacity quarantine facility, with two more to be built at the hospital's parking area.

The facilities will not only serve Marikina residents but also extend their services to individuals from parts of Rizal province, San Mateo, Antipolo City, and Pasig City.

Mayor Teodoro emphasized the need for a unified approach to combatting the pandemic, stating that the health and safety of one city are interconnected with its neighbors.
