Manila builds new COVID-19 quarantine facility at Araullo High

The Manila city government is constructing a new COVID-19 quarantine facility at Araullo High School to accommodate a potential surge in infections.

This new air-conditioned isolation facility aims to supplement existing quarantine centers like the Manila Infectious Disease Control Center and the Delpan Quarantine Facility.

Mayor Isko Moreno expressed concern that easing quarantine restrictions could lead to increased transmission of the virus.

The new facility is being built in partnership with Junior Chamber International (JCI) Manila.

The city government plans to establish more quarantine facilities with a combined capacity of approximately 400 patients.

In addition to new facilities, Manila will intensify mass testing and contact tracing efforts to control the spread of COVID-19.

As of Friday evening, Manila has recorded 833 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 138 recoveries and 78 deaths.
