Marikina to fully fund super health center with P200M budget

Marikina City Mayor Ma. Ann Marjorie Teodoro announced the city government will fully fund the Concepcion Dos Super Health Center, allocating P200 million in the 2026 budget for its completion.

This decision follows the Department of Health's (DOH) failure to release the requested P180 million in additional funds after only providing an initial P21 million for Phase 1.

The super health center aims to provide basic health services and will integrate an autism center for individuals with special needs.

However, the DOH stated that Marikina City, in a letter signed by then-mayor Marcelino Teodoro in December 2022, pledged to allocate local government funds for the completion and staffing of the health center.

DOH Secretary Teodoro Herbosa mentioned that the project is among 297 non-operational super health centers nationwide and suggested that the center should have been operational with the provided budget, citing that many modifications were made to the Marikina project.

Mayor Teodoro criticized the DOH for misleading the public and stated that the health secretary should not blame the city government for the project's delays.
