PBBM names 12-man senatorial slate for 2025 polls

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has unveiled a 12-person senatorial slate for the 2025 midterm elections under the Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas coalition.

The lineup includes reelectionist Senators Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid, Francis Tolentino, Bong Revilla, and Imee Marcos, alongside former senators Manny Pacquiao, Panfilo Lacson, and Vicente Sotto III.

Cabinet Secretary Benhur Abalos, Makati Mayor Abby Binay, ACT-CIS Representative Erwin Tulfo, and House Deputy Speaker Camille Villar are also part of the slate.

The coalition is composed of five political parties: Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), Lakas-CMD, the Nationalist People's Coalition, the Nacionalista Party, and the National Unity Party.

Political analysts note the significant presence of politicians from established political dynasties within the administration's choices.

A political science professor from Ateneo de Manila University commented that the coalition represents "powerful dynasties and immense wealth" and that these candidates are currently leading in surveys.
