Imee Marcos quits admin slate to run independently

Senator Imee Marcos announced her withdrawal from the administration coalition's senatorial slate for the 2025 elections, opting to run independently.

Her decision came after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. revealed the 12 aspirants for the "Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas," which initially included her.

Senator Marcos stated her intention to stand alone to avoid putting her younger brother, the President, in a difficult position and to prevent doubts among her friends.

She clarified that running independently would allow her the freedom to "talk to all parties" and act as a bridge between the Marcos and Duterte factions.

President Marcos Jr. stated that his sister's decision is "fine" and "her choice," assuring that the administration would continue to back her candidacy and welcoming her to join campaign sorties.

Senator Imee Marcos thanked her brother for understanding her situation and confirmed her withdrawal as an attempt to reunite the broken "UniTeam."
