Marcos Jr. sees stronger PH-Indonesia partnership in first state visit

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. expressed confidence in a stronger Philippines-Indonesia partnership during his first official visit to Jakarta.

Marcos met with Indonesian President Joko Widodo and highlighted the close geographical, cultural, and ethnic ties between the two nations.

The Philippine leader emphasized that strong partnerships, especially within ASEAN, are crucial for economic recovery post-pandemic.

He believes these collaborations will ensure the stability of future plans for both countries and foster economic stability.

Marcos thanked President Jokowi for the warm welcome and acknowledged Indonesia's willingness to strengthen their diplomatic relations, which will mark its 75th anniversary in two years.

He also emphasized that ASEAN will be the "lead agent" in bringing peace during the current volatile time in geopolitics, with Indonesia's input being crucial to this effort.
