Marcos Jr. begins state visits to Indonesia and Singapore

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. departed Manila on Sunday, September 4, 2022, for state visits to Indonesia and Singapore.

In Indonesia, he met with members of the Filipino community in Jakarta and Indonesian President Joko Widodo to discuss bilateral relations, the changing global geopolitical environment, and witness the signing of agreements on defense, security, the creative economy, and culture.

The President aims to meet with Filipino communities in both countries to assure them of the government's commitment to their welfare and protection.

Economic briefings and business meetings are planned in both countries to encourage investments and create job opportunities in the Philippines, with Marcos Jr. promising to secure investment pledges.

Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio will serve as Officer-in-Charge of the Philippine government while Marcos is out of the country.
