Marcos Jr. inaugurates PHC's BUCAS, eyes proactive healthcare system

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. emphasized the administration's goal of a healthcare system that anticipates needs rather than reacting to them, during the inauguration of the Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Service Center (BUCAS) at the Philippine Heart Center (PHC).

He stated that the opening of BUCAS transforms how the country handles critical moments for patients, as time is both an enemy and an ally.

The BUCAS Center aims to bridge the gap between primary care facilities and higher-level health institutions by providing urgent health care services for minor surgeries and other ancillary services.

Services at the BUCAS facilities will be available throughout the week, including weekends.

As of September 2024, there are 31 BUCAS Centers established nationwide.

The President also provided financial aid exceeding P520 million to three major health institutions: the PHC, the Lung Center of the Philippines (LCP), and the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI), intended to bolster their capabilities.
