Marcos inaugurates NAIA e-gates to cut passenger wait times

President Marcos inaugurated the new e-gates system at NAIA Terminal 3, aiming to significantly reduce passenger waiting times.

The e-gates can process passengers in as little as 20 seconds, a substantial improvement from previous wait times.

The e-gates utilize passport scanning and facial recognition technology, with Immigration agents overseeing the system powered by Amadeus.

This initiative is a collaborative effort funded by New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC) and supported by the Bureau of Immigration.

While the e-gates are currently available for arrivals, a phased rollout for departures will begin in two to three weeks, initially for OFWs, with a full public rollout expected in the first quarter of 2026.

Marcos also graced the opening of the All-Filipino Food Hall, Mezzanine Food Hall, and the Dignitaries Lounge, which he said reflects Filipino values.

The President also led the launch of the Medical Tourism Concierge Area designed to assist patients with efficiency and compassion.

The upgrade is crucial for boosting tourism and managing passenger volume, which has surpassed NAIA's original capacity.
