Manila City gov’t begins localized targeted mass testing
The Manila city government has launched localized mass testing for COVID-19, with a capacity of over 1,600 tests weekly.
Suspect and probable cases of COVID-19 will be prioritized for swab tests.
The testing capacity is distributed among various city-run hospitals and quarantine facilities, with specific daily capacities for each.
The collected swab samples will be processed by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) or the Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH), with results expected in two to three days.
As of this writing, about 934 swab tests have already been conducted across the different facilities.
Manila is the third city in Metro Manila to announce localized mass testing.
The city has exceeded 300 COVID-19 cases, with 38 deaths and 25 recovered patients.
