DOH to conduct continuous mass COVID-19 testing

Mass testing for COVID-19, employing a risk-based and progressive approach, will be conducted continuously in the Philippines, according to DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.

The Department of Health (DOH) aims to increase the country's testing capacity to between 8,000 to 10,000 tests daily.

Once this capacity is reached, all symptomatic individuals and those with possible exposure to the virus will be included in the mass testing.

Currently, priority is given to vulnerable individuals, those severely ill, and healthcare workers.

There are 15 institutions nationwide certified to conduct independent COVID-19 testing.

The DOH has already begun mass testing of suspected and probable cases of the novel coronavirus disease.
