LTFRB starts distributing P2.5B fuel subsidy to PUV drivers

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has begun distributing the P2.5 billion fuel subsidy to public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and operators.

A total of 264,443 PUV drivers and operators are the target beneficiaries, with each entitled to receive P6,500.

Land Bank has started crediting the subsidy to existing cardholders, prioritizing public utility jeepneys (PUJs) with cards under the Pantawid Pasada Program (PPP).

The daily crediting is expected to continue until Friday for those with existing cards.

The P2.5 billion subsidy is allocated with P1.75 billion for LTFRB-regulated PUVs, P625 million for tricycle drivers under the DILG, and P125 million for delivery services under the DTI.

Some operators are facing challenges in receiving subsidy cards because the LTFRB's database is not updated.

The P6,500 fuel subsidy is noted to be sufficient for only one week for UV Express vehicles due to increased daily fuel consumption.
