Malacañang announced the release of P3 billion in fuel subsidy to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Department of Agriculture (DA) to help mitigate the impact of rising fuel prices.
The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has released P2.5 billion for the DOTr's Fuel Subsidy Program and P500 million for the DA's Fuel Discount Program.
The DOTr's program will provide P6,500 in financial aid through cash cards to over 377,000 qualified drivers, including those in jeepneys, UV Express, mini buses, buses, shuttle services, taxis, tricycles, and full-time ride-hailing and delivery services.
Beneficiaries can claim their financial assistance through cash cards from the Land Bank of the Philippines.
A second tranche of the fuel subsidy is expected to be released in April 2022.
The DA's program offers fuel discounts of up to P3,000 to farmers and fisherfolk who own agricultural or fishery machinery.
The Land Transportation and Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) collaborated with other departments to identify beneficiaries.
