LPA, habagat to bring heavy rain over Luzon until Sunday

Parts of Luzon will experience heavy rainfall until Sunday afternoon, July 6, due to a low pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon.

As of Thursday afternoon, the LPA was located over the coastal waters of Sabtang, Batanes.

There is a medium chance that the LPA will develop into a tropical depression, which would then be named Bising.

The southwest monsoon is currently affecting a large portion of the Philippines, contributing to the anticipated rainfall.

Areas such as Ilocos Norte, Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan are forecast to receive 100 to 200 mm of rain from Thursday to Friday afternoon.

Batanes is expected to receive 100 to 200 mm of rain from Saturday afternoon to Sunday afternoon, with other areas receiving 50 to 100 mm.

PAGASA warns that floods and landslides are potential risks in areas affected by both the LPA and the southwest monsoon.
