Lacson urges space for DPWH official's family, confirms documents turned over

Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson urged authorities to give the family of the late DPWH Undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral space to grieve before pursuing any documents she may have shared.

Lacson confirmed that documents linked to alleged budget insertions involving Cabral have already been turned over to authorities.

His statement followed claims by Batangas 1st district Rep. Leandro Leviste that Cabral had shared files and was willing to be a state witness before her death.

Lacson's office consistently consolidates and turns over documents received, whether from Cabral or other sources, to relevant bodies like the Independent Commission for Infrastructure, the Office of the Ombudsman, or the Department of Justice.

Lacson expressed that Cabral's death is an unfortunate loss, as she could have significantly aided in exposing corruption within the DPWH's infrastructure program.

He hopes that Cabral may have left behind notes or files that could provide valuable evidence for ongoing investigations, particularly concerning the flood control mess being examined by the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.
