Lacson to chair Senate probe on flood control projects again

Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson stated that the Senate blue ribbon committee's investigation into anomalies concerning government infrastructure projects, specifically flood control, will restart on November 14, 2025, provided he is reelected as its chairman.

Lacson resigned from his chairmanship on October 7, citing colleagues' dissatisfaction with the investigation's direction.

Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III confirmed that following discussions, an agreement was reached for Lacson to reclaim the committee's leadership when the Senate reconvenes on November 10.

The next hearing will invite a "very important witness" and retired T/Sgt Orly Guteza to provide more details regarding his sworn statement.

Guteza claimed he was ordered to deliver suitcases of cash to the houses of former Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez, an allegation Romualdez has denied.

A previous hurdle involved Guteza's affidavit after the notary public denied signing the document, an issue Lacson stated he would leave to the Manila Regional Trial Court.
