Sen. Lacson to restart probe on flood control anomalies Nov 14

Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson stated that the Senate blue ribbon committee's investigation into anomalies concerning government infrastructure projects, specifically flood control, will restart on November 14, 2025.

Lacson resigned from his chairmanship on October 7, citing colleagues' dissatisfaction with the investigation's direction, but will reclaim leadership when the Senate reconvenes on November 10.

The next hearing will invite a "very important witness" who is expected to provide additional details into the alleged corruption scheme involving flood-control projects and implicate "bigger names".

Lacson declined to provide details on the witness's identity but confirmed that new information and a "relatively big name" will surface.

A previous hurdle involved retired T/Sgt Orly Guteza's affidavit after the notary public denied signing the document, an issue Lacson stated he would leave to the Manila Regional Trial Court.

Guteza claimed he was ordered to deliver suitcases of cash to the houses of former Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez, an allegation Romualdez has denied.
