No travel ban yet to Iran, Japan, Singapore: DOH
The Philippine inter-agency task force (IATF) has decided against imposing travel restrictions on Japan, Italy, Iran, and Singapore due to their medium-risk status and limited traveler numbers to the Philippines.
Health Secretary Francisco Duque III announced this decision, contrasting it with earlier travel bans implemented for high-risk areas like China, Macau, Hong Kong, and South Korea.
Duque explained that the technical working group of the Department of Health assessed these countries as medium risk, hence the decision not to include them in the travel restrictions.
Despite Italy and Iran having significant numbers of confirmed cases and deaths, the Philippine government will not issue a travel ban on them for now.
As of Tuesday, Italy had 2,502 cases and 79 deaths, while Iran reported 2,336 cases and 77 deaths.
