House commends Paris Olympics medalists Yulo, Villegas, Petecio

The House of Representatives has passed resolutions commending the Philippine delegation for their performance in the Paris Olympics, recognizing gymnast Carlos Yulo for his double gold medals and boxers Aira Villegas and Nesthy Petecio for their bronze medals.

Villegas and Petecio were bestowed the Congressional Medal of Distinction for their bronze medal achievements.

Carlos Yulo received the Congressional Medal of Excellence, the highest award for Filipino achievers, for his gold medals in the floor exercise and vault.

The House also recognized all 22 other Filipino athletes who represented the country in the Paris Games.

Speaker Martin Romualdez conferred the medals, highlighting the athletes' sacrifices and their role as national heroes.

Carlos Yulo received a total of PHP14.510 million from the House of Representatives and contributions from House members for his achievements.
