Harry Roque's daughter files amparo petition vs House committee

Bianca Hacintha Roque, daughter of former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, has filed a petition for a writ of amparo before the Supreme Court against the House of Representatives Quad Committee.

The petition was filed in response to the committee's ongoing probe into illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) and their alleged involvement.

The House Quad Committee has labeled Harry Roque as a "fugitive" for his repeated failure to attend hearings related to the probe.

Roque was previously cited in contempt by the committee for not submitting documents concerning illegal POGOs in Porac, Pampanga.

The petition argues that the committee's actions constitute a grave abuse of discretion, overstepping legislative powers and encroaching on the investigative and adjudicative powers of the Executive and Judicial branches, respectively.
