Habagat brings rains to Luzon, Visayas; Batangas under yellow warning

The southwest monsoon, or habagat, is expected to bring occasional rains to Luzon and the Visayas on Wednesday, with Batangas now under a yellow rainfall warning.

Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Cavite, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Antique will experience occasional rains.

Light to moderate with occasional heavy rains are expected to persist in Metro Manila, Laguna, Rizal, Bulacan, Zambales, Pampanga, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija and Bataan within the next three hours.

Furthermore, light to moderate rains with occasional heavy downpours will prevail in Cavite and parts of Quezon within the next three hours and affect nearby areas.

PAGASA warned of potential flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains, with flooding possible in flood-prone areas of Batangas.

The monsoon-induced rains have caused La Mesa Dam to reach its spilling level, a situation expected to affect nearby low-lying areas.

Rains due to habagat are expected to lessen by the weekend, with generally fair weather anticipated for most of the country.
