PAGASA forecasts scattered rains due to weak southwest monsoon

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasts scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms over Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Palawan due to a weak southwest monsoon until Saturday.

Isolated rain showers are also possible in Metro Manila, primarily in the afternoon or evening, caused by localized thunderstorms.

Authorities have warned of potential flash floods and landslides in areas experiencing rain.

Pagasa predicts that fair weather conditions will continue nationwide on Saturday, with the weak southwest monsoon still affecting the western parts of Visayas and Mindanao.

From Sunday to Monday, the entire archipelago will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a chance of brief afternoon or evening rain showers or thunderstorms.

From Tuesday to Friday, an approaching low pressure area is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon, bringing scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms to the Ilocos Region, Western Visayas, Northern Island Region, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Benguet, Abra, northern Palawan, and Occidental Mindoro.
