Habagat brings rains to Luzon and Visayas; new TD forms outside PAR

The southwest monsoon, locally known as 'habagat,' is currently affecting Luzon and Visayas with rains, while a new tropical depression has formed outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

The newly formed tropical depression is located far northeast of Luzon and is not yet directly impacting the country's weather.

Habagat is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms to Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.

Metro Manila, Visayas, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, and the rest of MIMAROPA will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the monsoon.

A separate low-pressure area is also being monitored by PAGASA northeast of Batanes.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms from localized weather systems.

PAGASA warned that these conditions could lead to flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
