GSIS offers emergency loans up to P40,000 for typhoon victims

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is offering emergency loans of up to P40,000 to members and pensioners affected by Typhoon Tino and the approaching Typhoon Uwan.

The loan is available nationwide until February 7, 2026, with a 6 percent annual interest rate payable over 36 months.

New applicants can borrow P20,000, while existing borrowers can apply for up to P40,000, with their current balance deducted.

Eligibility requires active service, no unpaid leave, at least three months of paid premiums in the last six months, no pending cases, and a take-home pay of at least P5,000 after deductions.

Pensioners are eligible if at least 25 percent of their basic monthly pension remains after loan deductions.

As of November 7, Typhoon Tino has caused 188 deaths, 135 missing persons, and 96 injuries in the Visayas region.
