Govt targets 1 million COVID-19 vaccine doses daily

The Philippine government aims to administer 1 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines daily to accelerate the vaccination program amidst the threat of the Delta variant.

The National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 is pushing for this increased vaccination rate to outpace the spread of the more transmissible variant.

Last week, the country achieved a record of 710,482 daily vaccinations.

However, the primary challenge remains vaccine supply, according to NTF deputy chief implementer Vivencio Dizon.

Dizon stated that with sufficient supply from manufacturers, daily vaccinations could exceed 750,000 and reach up to one million.

As of Sunday, nearly 24.5 million vaccine doses have been administered nationwide.

The 23rd week of the vaccination program saw 3.62 million doses administered, averaging 516,061 daily.
