Govt intensifies PPE, testing kit production amid COVID-19

The Philippine government is intensifying its efforts to produce and secure personal protective equipment (PPEs) and testing kits to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first batch of PPE deliveries has arrived and is being distributed to frontliners through coordination between the DOH, DOTr, and DND.

The DOST-Philippine Textile Research Institute is leading the production of 500,000 reusable facial masks for health workers.

The DOST has allocated P53.2 million for the local development of COVID-19 testing kits by UP-NIH and Manila HealthTek Inc.

Field validation for these local testing kits is nearing completion, with implementation in five facilities scheduled from April 4 to 25.

President Duterte has assured health workers that the government is mobilizing resources to provide them with necessary equipment and supplies.
