PAGASA: Rains expected in several PH areas due to amihan, shear line, ITCZ

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced that several parts of the country will experience rains on Monday due to various weather systems.

Batanes, Cagayan, and Apayao are expected to have rains brought by the northeast monsoon or 'amihan'.

Isabela and Aurora will experience scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.

The intertropical convergence zone or ITCZ will cause scattered rains and thunderstorms in Palawan, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rains in these affected areas could lead to flash floods or landslides.

The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

Severe thunderstorms in any part of the country could also result in flash floods or landslides.

As of Monday morning, no low pressure area was being monitored for potential tropical cyclone formation.
