Bersamin clarifies 'clean your house' remark amid House rift

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin clarified that his "clean your house" remark was intended to emphasize the institutional separation of powers between the executive and legislative branches, not to malign the House of Representatives.

Bersamin stated that the Cabinet considered some statements from certain House members to be against institutional separation of powers or to undermine confidence in institutions.

He asserted that the Cabinet "will not tolerate any attack on the integrity and reputation of the executive branch, and any effort to hold the budget process hostage by political theatrics."

This statement followed Bersamin's earlier accusation that the House was "attempting to shift the blame" to the executive branch for its "own corruption."

Bersamin urged the House of Representatives to address internal corruption and heed the demand for full accountability.
