Oreta, Sandoval to vie for Malabon congressional seat

Former Malabon Mayor Lenlen Oreta and former lawmaker Ricky Sandoval are set to face each other in the congressional race for Malabon's Lone District.

Oreta filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) first, aiming to transition from his mayoral post to the House of Representatives.

Sandoval, accompanied by his wife and current Malabon Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, also filed his COC, seeking a return to Congress.

Sandoval expressed a desire for a fair contest, stating, "May the best man win," and outlined his platform priorities including housing, flood control, and school improvements.

The former solon served as the city representative for four terms: Malabon-Navotas from 1998 to 2007 and Malabon City from 2016 to 2019.

Oreta, who served three terms as mayor, is confident in his accomplishments and believes his experience will allow him to craft beneficial legislation for Malabon, with a passion for addressing childhood stunting through nutrition programs.
