Duterte to visit China to thank Xi for vaccine donation

President Rodrigo Duterte plans a visit to China to personally express his gratitude to President Xi Jinping for the donation of 600,000 doses of Sinovac vaccines.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque clarified that the visit might happen before Duterte steps down in June 2022.

Duterte stated his intention to visit China to thank President Xi and assured that the donation did not come with strings attached.

He mentioned his intention to visit Xiamen, China, a city where a school building bears the name of his late mother, Soledad.

The arrival of the Sinovac shipment was welcomed by President Duterte and Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian.

Duterte conveyed his sincere appreciation to the Chinese people and government for their gesture of friendship and solidarity.

He also pointed out that the Philippines was the only country where China made a personal delivery of vaccine donations.
