China donates 600,000 Sinovac doses to PH

China's Ambassador to the Philippines, Huang Xilian, confirmed that 600,000 Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine doses, a testament to the strong friendship and partnership between the two countries, arrived in Manila on Sunday, February 28.

The Chinese military plane carrying the donated vials called CoronaVac landed at the Villamor Airbase in Pasay City past 4 p.m.

President Rodrigo Duterte personally received the vaccine shipment and expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government, calling it a gesture of friendship and solidarity.

At least 100,000 of the total doses are donations from China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) to the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Duterte reiterated his statement that Covid-19 vaccines should be treated as a global public good and made available to all, rich and poor alike.
