Duterte slams Robredo over typhoon response

President Rodrigo Duterte launched a verbal attack against Vice President Leni Robredo, accusing her of dishonesty and incompetence regarding the government's response to Typhoon Ulysses.

Duterte falsely claimed Robredo stated he was missing in action during the typhoon, a narrative that trended online through the hashtag #NasaanAngPangulo, which Duterte himself claimed Robredo started.

Robredo denied making such a statement, asserting that her actions and communications were solely focused on disaster relief and shared a video of her staff packing relief goods late at night.

Duterte's rant against Robredo, who has been widely praised for her efforts in helping typhoon victims, also included sexist remarks and personal attacks.

The President's meltdown in his late-night address sparked the hashtags #DuterteMeltdown and #NasiraanAngPangulo to top Philippine Twitter trends, with the latter being a play on words to #NasaanAngPangulo.

Duterte also explained his absence during the typhoon response, stating he was working and it coincided with the ASEAN Summit.
