Palace: Duterte need not apologize to Robredo

Malacañang stated that President Rodrigo Duterte does not need to apologize to Vice President Leni Robredo, as the President himself did not make the false accusation.

The false accusation that Robredo used a military plane to travel to Catanduanes was made by Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo and Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.

Both Panelo and Lorenzana have since apologized to Robredo after the Philippine Air Force confirmed she did not board a C-130 aircraft.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque commended Panelo and Lorenzana for admitting their mistake and apologizing.

Roque also claimed that Robredo created the impression that she was leading the typhoon response efforts, thereby misinforming the nation.

Roque questioned why Duterte should apologize when he himself made no mistake.
