Luzon quarantine has Reds doubting Duterte ceasefire over COVID-19
President Duterte declared a unilateral ceasefire with the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) from March 19 to April 15.

NDF chief political consultant Jose Maria Sison cited the militarist enhanced community quarantine over Luzon as a reason for their doubt, suggesting it is meant to suppress rights rather than fight the pandemic.
Sison also alleged that the AFP and PNP continue to engage in red-tagging, abductions, and murders of social activists, and attacks against people in NPA guerrilla fronts.
While communication between the GRP and NDFP negotiating panels is ongoing, no agreement for reciprocal ceasefires has been reached yet.
