DSWD awaits EO for second SAP phase implementation

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is awaiting an executive order from Malacañang for the guidelines on the second phase implementation of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).

DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista stated that once the executive order is issued, the interagency technical working group on SAP will draft the guidelines.

The Palace has decided to expand the SAP to include an additional five million low-income families.

As of May 5, 2020, 459 out of 1,589 LGUs have completed their SAP payouts, and 38 LGUs have submitted their liquidation reports.

The DSWD will provide the second tranche of subsidies after a full validation of the LGUs' liquidation reports.

Some LGUs, particularly in the National Capital Region, Cavite, Bulacan, Davao, and Cebu, have been given a seven-day extension to distribute the first SAP aid.

The DSWD recommended door-to-door delivery of SAP subsidies for senior citizens and persons with disabilities after a senior citizen died while queuing for the aid.
