DILG to add 5 million families to SAP 2nd wave

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) will include an additional five million families in the second distribution phase of the social amelioration program (SAP) cash aid.

This expansion aims to address concerns of families not included in the initial distribution.

DILG spokesperson Jonathan Malaya clarified that the original 18 million beneficiaries and the additional five million will receive their second tranche of aid simultaneously.

Both groups will be included in a master list submitted by local government units (LGUs).

The SAP grant provides P5,000 to P8,000 in cash aid per household, varying by region based on minimum wage.

Malaya cautioned local officials against splitting the financial assistance among multiple households.

Nationwide, 85.49 percent of eligible poor and vulnerable families affected by the COVID-19 crisis have received their cash assistance.
