DPWH Usec resigns amid contractor allegations

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Arrey Perez resigned from his position following allegations of links to flood control contractors.

Batangas 1st District Representative Leandro Leviste accused Perez of having ties with contractors and questioned his track record in the procurement process.

Perez stated his decision to resign was to insulate the DPWH's fight against corruption and to prevent public service from becoming a political game.

DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon confirmed Perez's irrevocable resignation and lauded his decision, noting it is rare for a government official to sacrifice himself for the greater good.

Secretary Dizon mentioned that an investigation into the flood control projects will proceed regardless of personalities or affiliations.

Dizon also remarked that while he welcomed Leviste's initiative, allegations should be based on facts and not mere gossip.
