The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has begun distributing 150,000 face masks received from a Good Samaritan to protect frontline health workers and essential personnel.
Priority for the distribution will be given to hospitals, DOTr frontline employees, personnel involved in port and airport operations, enforcers, and drivers participating in the DOTr Free Ride program.
Hospitals receiving masks include Medical Center Manila, Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, San Lazaro Hospital, Philippine General Hospital, Lung Center of the Philippines, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Perpetual Help Medical Center, Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center, The Medical City - Ortigas, and UST Hospital.
DOTr offices and personnel, including those in the Road sector, DOTr Emergency Operations Center, DOTr Central Office, DOTr MRT-3, Office for Transportation Security, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, Manila International Airport Authority, Philippine Ports Authority, and the Land Transportation Office will also be provided with masks.
Philippine National Police - Highway Patrol Group enforcers assisting in the Luzon-wide Enhanced Community Quarantine implementation will also receive face masks.
DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade expressed gratitude to the donor for their assistance during the face mask shortage, stating that the masks are a testament to their support for the country's front line workers.
