DOLE reports over 630,000 workers displaced by COVID-19

As of March 31, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported that over 630,000 workers have been displaced due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with 15,213 establishments citing temporary closures or flexible work arrangements.

Of the total displaced workers, 169,232 individuals are from the informal sector.

DOLE has distributed PHP160 million in financial aid to affected workers nationwide.

In Region 12, the DOLE has disbursed approximately P9 million in CAMP cash aid to nearly 2,000 displaced workers.

Secretary Silvestre Bello III urged companies to submit necessary requirements for their employees to be eligible for CAMP.

The CAMP cash aid is distinct from subsidies provided by the DSWD and other agencies under the Bayanihan to Heal As One law.

Additionally, DOLE is assisting informal sector workers through the Tulong Pangkabuhayan Alang sa mga Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program, coordinating with local government units and Public Employment Services Offices (PESO).
