DOLE to aid 715,000 workers affected by COVID-19

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) aims to assist a total of 715,000 workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As of April 3, the DOLE had distributed PHP600 million in cash assistance to nearly 200,000 workers.

This includes PHP514 million disbursed to 102,855 formal workers under the COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP).

Additionally, 72,703 informal workers received PHP107 million under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD)-Barangay ko, Bahay Ko (BKBK) program.

DOLE is expediting the processing of applications by continuing to process reports even during Holy Week and easing requirements, such as no longer strictly requiring company payroll.

An agreement with Land Bank will facilitate the expeditious release and remittance of funds nationwide through branches and ATMs.

The DOLE is also seeking approval for additional funding to aid stranded or repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
