Suspects in steel magnate's killing face DOJ

Suspects Richard Austria, Reymart Catequista, and David Tan Liao appeared before the Department of Justice (DOJ) for the preliminary investigation of kidnapping for ransom with homicide charges.

The suspects, who allegedly strangled steel magnate Anson Que and his driver Armanie Pabillo, are expected to submit their counter-affidavits on May 8.

Arrested suspects David and Austria admitted to strangling Que and Pabillo, while Liao, a Chinese national, surrendered and admitted participation.

Chinese nationals Haohua Yang and Fangquiang Yuan were also presented during the investigation.

Four other individuals, including Rongxian Gou, Jin Yuan Ye, and two aliases Jonin Lin and Kelly, remain at-large and were recommended for inquest.

Que and his driver went missing on March 29 after leaving Que's office in Valenzuela City, and a ransom demand of USD20 million was received the following day.
